God's Eternal Plan Brings New Life!

Acts 2:14a,32-41 Peter's message about God's plan brought many to repentance and new life through baptism
I Peter 1:17-21 (sermon verses) The redemption through Jesus' blood brings believers new life both in our journey on earth and in the life to come.

Psalm 116 - Martin Luther said, “Psalm 116 is a psalm of thanks. The psalmist is joyful, thanking God for hearing his prayer and for rescuing him from the agonies of death and anguish of hell. Enemies still threaten us, and want us to drink from the cup of their wrath. But we take the cup of grace and salvation, and through preaching, we pour out that cup of grace on anyone who will drink and draw their comfort from the word of grace with us.”

Have you ever experienced heartburn?
The problems of heartburn are painful…chest pain, nausea, painful swallowing…
I wouldn’t wish that kind of heartburn on any of you, or myself…but I have a kind of heartburn that I would LOVE to have and I CRAVE having! What??? Listen in to today’s devotion as we look at that kind of heartburn described in Luke 24!

I Peter 1:3-9 (sermon verses) Risen Jesus: New Birth into a Living Hope. New birth. Living Hope. Divine inheritance. Shielded by God's power. These are yours because of God's great mercy!
John 20:19-31 Risen Jesus: New Birth into a Living Hope Easter evening, Jesus appeared to his disciples. He drove away their fears! He appeared again one week later, this time with “Doubting Thomas” present. Thomas also saw and believed.
Psalm 16 Martin Luther said, “The sixteenth psalm is a prophecy of the suffering and resurrection of the Christ. It clearly shows that he would cast off the old law with its sacrifices as idolatry, and has chosen believers for a beautiful inheritance.”

Doubt or Peace?
Uncertainty or Confidence?
Isn’t it interesting how uncertainty breeds doubt and then it just spills into more. Where as certainty brings peace and it continues to build into more.

Happy Easter!
Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John were confused, yet curious. Very soon they'd rejoice- for Jesus had risen, just as he said!

Forgiveness in Jesus is free...but it wasn't cheap!
Today we're going to take a look at Jesus just an hour or two before he's given into the hands of his enemies by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Can you imagine the conflict that Jesus had...a part of him that was terrified to drink the cup of suffering and the part of him that trusted his heavenly father completely.

I don’t believe you…prove it!
Whether it’s 2 children playing on the playground or 2 adults talking about a controversial news story…
People like to have proof.
Those words come so naturally to us…”prove it”!
The words we hear from Jesus’ enemies today sounds a lot like prove it. Although they weren’t genuinely asking for proof, they were looking down on Jesus, and mocking him.
In today’s devotion from Mathew 27 listen to the tone that the enemies of Jesus speak with as they ask for proof.

How would you talk in the presence of a King?
If you were in the presence of King Charles, or Queen Elizabeth (when she was still living)…you would be very careful in the way that you spoke and addressed them.
You would use words like, “sir”, “your highness”, and show great respect.

Jesus: Sight for the Blind!

Isaiah 42:14-21 Jesus: Sight for the Blind! For those who repent, God promises to turn their darkness into light. But to those who trust idols, God promises judgment!
Ephesians 5:8-14 Jesus: Sight for the Blind! Our conversion to Christ means a total transformation of who we are. Once we were darkness, but now we are light in the Lord.
John 9:1-7.13-17,34-39 (sermon verses) Jesus: Sight for the Blind! He was once blind, but now he can see. This not only describes the man's physical ability to see, more importantly it describes his new faith in Christ.
