This Sunday we are continuing a Summer Sermon Series on the book of Daniel. It's titled, "There's Another in the Fire." The theme reflects the events of Daniel 3, the account of "The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace." In spite of an evil king's outlandish decree, the LORD God Almighty protected his sheep. It wasn't too hard for him, even under terrible circumstances!
That's essential for us too: wherever we go, whatever we do, anything that comes up...there's another in the fire. He is the God who saves us.
Scripture verses to read beforehand: Daniel 3:1-12, Daniel 3:13-27 (sermon verses), I Timothy 1:12-17 and Matthew 9:9-13.

This Sunday we are starting a Summer Sermon Series on the book of Daniel. It's titled, "There's Another in the Fire." The theme reflects the events of Daniel 3, the account of "The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace."
Here's how three men ended up in a fiery furnace: King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, the most powerful man in the world, built a huge statue of gold and demanded that all people bow down to worship it. Three God-fearing men refused to do so. So the King punished them by tossing them into a fiery furnace.
But the men were unharmed. King Nebuchadnezzar looked and saw FOUR men, not just three. The fourth looked like "a son of the gods." The LORD God Almighty had protected his sheep. It wasn't too hard for him, even in these terrible, godless circumstances!
That's essential for us too: wherever we go, whatever we do, anything that comes up...there's another in the fire. He is the God who saves us.

This week we are starting a six-week sermon series on the book of Daniel.
Life was changing fast for Daniel and his friends. Everything was different, and nothing was the same. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had destroyed the kingdom of Judah and exiled some of their brightest and best to his country. How would they make the best of it? How would they react well?
"There's Another in the Fire" explores all of this and more...we will see from these chapters in Daniel that the LORD is always with us, without fail, through any and every situation!
Scriptures to read during this episode....
Daniel 1:1-7 Far Away from Normal? There's Another in the Fire When life is changing fast, often not by choice, this never changes: the LORD is with you wherever you go.
Philippians 4:8-13 Far Away from Normal? There's Another in the Fire When you're dealing with a new normal, the LORD gives you strength! Think about him most of all. And you can be content in any and every situation.
Matthew 6:24-34 Far Away from Normal? There's Another in the Fire New normal? You cannot serve both God and Money. Ever. Instead, seek first God's kingdom!
Daniel 1:8-21 (sermon verses) Far Away from Normal? There's Another in the Fire Daniel was far away from home. He easily could have told himself that everything was wrong and nothing was right. But he SET HIS MIND to serve the Lord alone. And the Lord blessed him.

Isaiah 12:2 “The LORD Alone Is My Strength” 2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.
Isaiah 40:31 “How Do I Get Renewable Strength?” 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Philippians 4:13 “What Can Strength Accomplish?” 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Jesus Christ is our Good Shepherd! We are only sheep...but when we are safe under the care of our Good Shepherd, that's a fantastic situation! Because of Jesus, separation between you and God is gone forever...he has come to give you life, and life to the FULL.
This is why Jesus Christ is worth a lot to us. Let's worship him and listen to his Word!
